Bajan Flavours

Authentic Bajan Food

about us

Welcome to Bajan Flavours!

My name is Sonja Morton, and my journey with food began long before this food truck. I came to the United States at the age of 9, bringing with me a deep connection to my Barbadian roots.

I was raised around incredible cooks—my grandmother, who was truly phenomenal in the kitchen, and my mother, who continues that tradition today. They taught me that Bajan cooking isn’t just about food—it’s about patience, love, and culture. Every dish takes time, skill, and care to get just right.
Through them, I learned how to prepare authentic Barbadian meals the traditional way, and that passion stayed with me.

When I looked around Connecticut, I realized something was missing—there were no places offering true Bajan cuisine. I knew there was a need for these flavours, for this culture, and for food that tells a story.

Bajan Flavours was created to fill that gap.

Here, every meal is made with intention, honoring the recipes and techniques passed down through generations. From savory dishes to baked favorites, everything we serve reflects the richness of Barbados and the love that goes into its cooking.

Thank you for supporting our journey and allowing us to share a taste of Barbados with you.
